Pictures can also be used to develop awareness of different kinds of art, from different cultures. Put your learners into pairs or small groups.
​Ask them to discuss the painting:
- what does it show?
​- where might you find a painting like this?
- even if you don't know the answers to the above questions, what response do you have to the picture (the colours, the composition etc)?
- do you like the picture?
- would you like to have it on your wall, or as a calendar, or as a greetings card (etc)?
- if you don't like it very much, what kinds of paintings do you prefer?
